Description

The cover of this handcrafted journal is an original ecoprint I created on watercolour paper using morning glory flowers I grew in my garden. It’s lined with sturdy Kraft-tex, which looks and feels like leather but is made with paper. I bound this book by hand with long stitch binding which allows the pages to open flat and also gives them some room to stretch across the spine, making it perfect for mixed media art journaling and collage. Inside are 96 pages of FSC-certified white 70lb drawing paper, which is marker and fountain-pen friendly. An elastic closure keeps the journal closed when you’re not working in it.

Ecoprinting – also called botanical contact printing – is the process of capturing the natural dyes and pigments in leaves and flowers on paper using heat and pressure. Every print is unique and all the colours come from plants – I don’t use any synthetic dyes, inks or paints. I choose my very best ecoprints for book covers and wax them for durability before lining them with Kraft-Tex. I bound this book by hand with long stitch binding, which allows the pages to open flat and also gives them room to stretch across the spine, making it perfect for art journaling and collage.

If you wish, I will personalize the front cover free of charge by heat embossing a name or initials on the lower right-hand corner.
